Feeling Lost in Your 20s? But, Are you Really Behind?

Your 20s are supposed to be the best years of your life, right?

Then why does it feel like everyone else got a manual you never received?

If you’re between 18 and 30 and feeling anxious, stuck, or just not sure who you are anymore, you’re in good company. Here’s what we hear all the time.

“Everyone else seems to have it together.”

They don’t. Social media is a highlight reel. Behind most of those posts is someone who’s also stressed about money, relationships, work, or where their life is going. Comparison is one of the fastest ways to feel worse about yourself, and it makes anxiety louder.

Big changes are hard, even the good ones

Graduating, moving, starting a new job, ending a relationship, becoming a parent. Life transitions can shake your sense of who you are, even when you wanted the change. Feeling overwhelmed doesn’t mean you made the wrong choice. It means you’re adjusting.

Self-esteem takes work

Many young adults carry a harsh inner voice that says you’re not good enough or you should be further by now. Therapy can help you notice that voice, question it, and build a kinder way of talking to yourself.

Not just for women, and not just for “serious” stuff

Guys deserve support too. Men’s mental health often gets brushed aside with “just tough it out,” and that leaves a lot of people struggling quietly. And you don’t need to be in crisis to start therapy. Some people come in for postpartum depression, others for relationship stress, identity questions, or because they’re tired of feeling anxious all the time. LGBTQ+ folks are welcome here, too.

What therapy can look like

Often it means learning practical skills: how to calm your body when anxiety spikes, how to catch unhelpful thought patterns, how to handle intense emotions without feeling out of control, and how to set boundaries. You walk away with tools you can use in real life, not just a place to vent (though venting is totally allowed).

You don’t have to wait until it gets worse

If something feels off, that’s reason enough to reach out.
